4 Ways to Ease Pain From Plantar Fasciitis

It’s painful; it’s debilitating; quiet frankly it just hurts. Plantar Fasciitis keeps you from doing the things that you once loved to do. So, you go to the doctor and what do they do? They will give you pain meds, cortisone shots; maybe they suggest some orthotics or therapy tools to help “manage” the pain.  Then you think to yourself (you probably don’t dare to say it out loud, because after all, they’re the doctor, they know best, right?), “I don’t want to just manage my pain, I want it gone for good!” But sadly, many people end up going this route of just “managing” the pain.

Well believe it or not, you don’t have to keep just “managing” your pain; there are things that can help with Plantar Fasciitis.

There are many techniques to be used that can help release the fascia in just a few visits. There are also many other modalities that can help as well with your foot pain.

Some of the most effective ways to treat plantar fasciitis are as follows:

1. Cold Laser Therapy – Without a doubt, this has been the most effective treatment we have ever seen for the treatment of plantar fasciitis in Amarillo. It has simply been phenomenal. It is relatively inexpensive, it is safe and conservative, it is non-invasive, there is no recovery time to the treatments, they don’t hurt AT ALL, and the treatments only take 5 minutes each time. There’s no reason to NOT try it.

2. Myofascial Release (MR) – Combining MR with Cold Laser is a powerful combination. MR is able to aid in stretching out the calf muscles as well as in stretching the fascia on the bottom of the feet thus speeding the healing process.

3. Custom Orthotics – Here at Creek Stone, we have see custom orthotics be highly effecrtive in treateing plantar fasciitis as well as in protecting the recovery from plantar fasciitis. It’s good to get the inflammation down but the orthotics help keep the recovery. When the framework of the foot is properly supported, everything attached to the framework is going to function better, including the fascia.  We use a laser scanner that is accurate to within two widths of a hair to assess the three arches of the foot. It gives you information and a grading that gives you accurate information as to the need for custom orthotics. It’s space-aged stuff but really cool!

4. Home Exercises – There are lots of exercises you can perform at home to aid and add to the work done at the doctor’s office. We have included two videos below to get you started with your at-home work.
