Why I Choose Chiropractic Care by Dr. Jeff Williams – Chiropractor in Amarillo

Dr. Jeff Williams - Chiropractor in Amarillo, TX

I’ve told my story about being a chiropractor in Amarillo repeatedly but, it’s one that bears repetition and, it keeps going and expanding.  Being a chiropractor in Amarillo is not necessarily unique to being a chiropractor anywhere else really except for maybe the people we work with. I’m told by world travelers that the Texas Panhandle is by the nices, most kind-hearted kind of people they’ve encountered. I speak with new patients that have re-located to Amarillo for work. While they do not alway love Amarillo itself in the beginning, they ALWAYS love the people of Amarillo.

Back to the story: I was skiiing as a high school kid when I hit a jump and came down on top of my head. Of course it was the last run of the last day at the bottom of the hill. Wouldn’t you know?

I couldn’t move my head left or right. I was checked but didn’t have any x-rays or anything like that. When I got back home to Perryton, TX, my mother took me to the medical doctor and then to the osteopathic doctor to try to get me some relief. The treatment included medication only and a, “Don’t do that again,” type of speech. Nothing helped. It was unrelenting.

Eventually, after 2-3 months of complaining, I believe my mother got tired of hearing it so she said that she set me up with a chiropractor in Perryton. What the heck is a chiropractor? That’s what I was thinking. But, honestly, at that point, it didn’t matter what a chiropractor was if I could just finally get some relief from the neck pain.

The chiropractor was the first to shoot x-rays, the first to really do anything that I felt had any meat behind it. He wanted to see me three times per week for two weeks and then he would check me out and we’d go from there. Good enough for me. I had been suffering for months at this point so I signed up for chiropractic care without hesitation.

I was pain-free in two weeks. You would have never known I was injured. Not only that but I was back in athletics and back to my normal routine without any issues. I thought, “THAT’S pretty powerful.”

And it was pretty powerful! So much so that I became a chiropractor in Amarillo. When it came to deciding what I wanted to be when I grew up, I was strong enough to know my weaknesses. One of my major weaknesses is “blood and guts.” Some are driven by it. I am not one of those. I wanted to help people. I wanted to make a difference. But I didn’t want to deal with blood and guts. I didn’t want to be the one to put a 4 year old’s broken arm back into place. I’m so thankful for those that take that on and love that type of action or treatment but it just is not me and I knew that. That is exactly why I chose Chiropractic as my profession.

And, we are making a difference.

Just this week, a lovely patient of ours returned after some seriously scary events. I recognized some very concerning issues going on with this patient when she came in for her appointment. After some preliminary questions and evaluation, I knew I couldn’t touch her and sent her on to the Urgent Care. They sent her on to the emergency room where they found out that she needed treatment at the hospital and without our recognizing the issues, she may have actually died.

When she came in this week, she thanked us for saving her life and for checking on her so many times while she was going through the medical protocols. That’s the kind of stuff that God put us on this Earth for. And it’s not the first time we have been credited for saving lives. I can’t tell you how good that feels.

Back to the reason for choosing chiropractic. Not only did I choose chiropractic as a career, I choose chiropractic first for my health usually as well for the following reasons:

  • Chiropractic care is safe.
  • Chiropractic care is conservative
  • Chiropractic care is non-invasive.
  • Chiropractic care in non-pharmacologic
  • Chiropractic care is validated through research for treatment of neck pain, back pain, low back pain, headaches, migraines, etc…
  • Chiropractic care is cost-effective when compared to treatment in the medical field.

Plain and simple.

If you have never been to a chiropractor in Amarillo, now is the time to give it a try. If you have been to a chiropractor in Amarillo and had a bad experience, let us turn that around for you. We love to turn it around for people and change their minds completely. Don’t let one bad apple spoil the whole basket. Just like with any other profession, you have good and bad.
