Why Am I Sore After A Massage?

Being sore after a massage, is very common. Right after a massage you usually feel great, relaxed and rejuvenated. But often times the next day you have muscle soreness, some fatigue and just don’t feel quite right. Then you start asking yourself, why do I feel this way?.  More than likely it was due from the massage.

There are a lot of reasons that you are sore after a massage. It could be the total intention of the massage between you and your therapist. A massage is often like a workout to the muscles, if the muscles are not use to it, they will often respond with soreness and muscle fatigue. The soreness will usually last one to two days, sometimes it can last longer depending on the person and the intentions of a therapeutic massage. There are lots of theories on to why this happens and people experience different things with their body.

The more you massages you receive the less sore you will be as your body adjusts and gets use to this type of workout to the body. Remember if it is to much you can discuss this with your therapists and you can adjust your sessions to be more comfortable and less sore.

By moving so much in the body and fluids, a massage helps break up and flush out body toxins. Always be sure to drink plenty of water to help flush out all these toxins and replenish the body.

If you ever have any questions about anything be sure to talk to your therapist and they will be happy to explain everything to you.

Remember a lot of times when you do something to the muscles adhesions to get rid of muscle tension and strain. Breaking up these adhesions and getting the muscles to loosen and relax will cause some soreness.
